Where to Stay: Wildwood Crest, Wildwood or North Wildwood

With so many towns and beautiful beaches along the coast of the Jersey Shore, it’s a tough decision to choose where to spend your vacation. Of course, we think you’re already halfway to a great beach vacation just by setting your eyes on the Wildwoods, but the 5-mile island is comprised of three towns, each with its own unique flavor and flair. So what makes each part of our island unique?

Here’s some insider knowledge of the area so you can make the most informed decision when deciding where to stay during your Wildwood vacation.

Wildwood Crest, NJ

Wildwood Crest is the southern-most section of the Wildwoods (besides Diamond Beach). It is a quieter, family-friendly part of town, filled with motels that are set back-to-back on each block to allow for wide-open views of the ocean. Wildwood Crest is dry, but, as the entire town is only 2 miles long, bars and liquor stores are within just a few minutes drive. The Crest is the closest part of town to neighboring Victorian Cape May, and many of its activities, such as free concerts, are located at Centennial Park (which is just next to the Armada By-the-Sea) and beautiful Sunset Lake.

If you’re looking for a family-friendly location in the Wildwoods with easy access to the beach and a quieter environment, then you may want to consider Wildwood Crest for your next beach vacation (and that’s where we are).

Wildwood, NJ

Wildwood is at the center of the island, where the famous Wildwood Boardwalk, amusement-filled piers and waterparks, and many bars and restaurants are located. Wildwood proper is located between Cresse Avenue and 26th Avenue.

Wildwood is home to the Wildwood Convention Center, the Doo Wop Museum, and several events and festivals that take place in Fox Park throughout the spring, summer and fall.

Many people who visit Wildwood spend plenty of time in this area of the island, but choose to stay at a hotel/motel in a nearby community, due to the high volume of activity here. But if you want the easiest access to the boardwalk and will enjoy being in the energy of the center of town, then the heart of Wildwood may be just the place for you to stay on your Wildwood vacation.

North Wildwood, NJ

North Wildwood, obviously, is the northern-most section of the Wildwoods and is located between 26th Avenue and the tip of the island.

This section of town is made up mostly of condominiums and motels. It is quieter than the heart of Wildwood, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants to keep vacationers up late, especially at the very tip of the island in a section of town called Anglesea.

Be sure to visit the Hereford Lighthouse and walk the Anglesea Seawall, as well as participate in famous events such as the Irish Festival in this section of town.
